A little bit about our Confirmation Program at St. Mary Immaculate Parish…
|The Confirmation program at St. Mary’s consists of two years of preparation, generally in the 7th and 8th grades. The Candidates receive the sacrament in the fall after completing this preparation. Retreats and service opportunities are provided for the students. Public school students are grouped with their peers and meet with a Mentor on various Monday evenings to study the Catholic faith.|
Recognizing the important role of parents in the faith development of their children, we aim to support and inform parents so they are prepared to nurture their adolescent’s faith and answer their questions. Once a month, parents and adolescents attend a presentation together. The presentations are on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Church. Child care is provided for those who request it and have completed the necessary safety forms.
Along with the commitment to attend these sessions, each family is asked to use “The Word Among Us” to access the daily Scripture passages heard at Mass, in order to draw closer and closer to Christ as a family. They also commit to performing two service projects together – one project for the Church and one “Work of Mercy” project. Suggestions and contact information is provided.
