Is God calling YOU to serve?...
We need Sponsor Couples!

SMI celebrates about 30 weddings a year and prepares about 40 couples a year for marriage.  We are in need of a few more sponsor couples to participate in this enriching ministry.  Sponsor couples are those who have been married at least 5 years who work with our engaged couples.  After receiving your training, you invite couples into your home for 2 or 3 sessions and review their results of a FOCCUS inventory (this is a snapshot in time of patterns of strengths and opportunities in the couple's relationship).  Sponsor couples are an integral part of the preparation process for marriage.  You receive training and support.  A great advantage of this ministry is you schedule your sessions with the engaged couples around your personal needs.  Please contact Emily Burt at 815-436-2651 ext. 889 for more information!

Lenten Mission with Mike Patin

Burros, Basins, Bricks, & Bouquets Parish Mission

The Symbols of Holy Week lend us to  take a look at every day living and connect them with Jesus’ final week on earth.

Burros – “The Master needs it” To Whom does Jesus need us to carry him?

Basins - ”So you must do” Whom does Jesus call us to serve?

Bricks & Bouquets - “There is no  greater love than this” What sacrifices am I called to make?

We will reflect on these images and themes during the mission. Please join us in church at 7 PM for this parish mission. All ages are welcome and ASL interpretation will be provided. Mike Patin, our Mission Speaker, is an Internationally Renowned Speaker from Lafayette LA .  Mike uses energy, humor and stories to affirm God's goodness and presence among us while inviting others (and himself) to take the "next step" in our journey with God.

March 14

"15 minutes each day spent in God’s presence – reading,
reflecting, responding and resting with his Word” (Evangelical Catholic)

“We speak to God when we pray; we listen to Him when we read the Scriptures.” St. Ambrose

Lectio Divina “divine reading” is an ancient way of listening and talking with God through Scripture. The Holy Spirit prompts thoughts about what you read, and helps you talk to God about these thoughts. In this way, God speaks directly to our most personal concerns.

Join SMIP’s own Certified Spiritual Director, Laura Lies, for a guided Lectio Divina Workshop from a Gospel Reading. Wednesday, March 14 at 7 pm.

Name: Lectio Divina Workshop

Date: Wednesday March 14th

Time: 7-8:30 PM

Location: Faith Sharing/Harvester Room

RCIA Begins

Do you know someone interested in becoming Catholic or learning more about our faith?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the sacramental process in which individuals enter into an extended period of formation.  The community ritually celebrates the conversion of these individuals at various points on the journey, culminating with the celebration of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.  Following this, there is a period to help the newly initiated to live the commitment the made: lives of justice, service and charity as witnesses of the reign of God.

RCIA is open to the unbaptized, or those who are seeking to receive First Eucharist or Confirmation.  Please call 815-436-2651 ext. 889 for more info.
