What is a Queen of Hearts Raffle?
The Queen of Hearts 50/50 Raffle operates similarly to a regular 50/50 raffle. Half of the money collected goes to the winner, while the other half goes to St. Mary Immaculate. However, by purchasing a ticket, you will only get a chance to draw the Queen of Hearts to win the prize money.
How Does it Work?
There is a big board that will contain squares with numbers 1 through 54. One card represents a playing card from a standard deck of 52 cards and 2 Joker cards. When a player purchases a ticket, their ticket will have their name and a number from 1 through 54. When a ticket gets drawn, the numbered card from the player’s ticket on the big board gets pulled. If the card revealed is the Queen of Hearts, the player would get half of the pot, with the other half going to St. Mary Immaculate Parish. However, if the Queen of Hearts does not reveal herself, the pot rolls over to next week. Therefore, the other non-winning tickets get discarded, and the drawing will start over again the next week. The pot will accumulate more money each week until the Queen of Hearts is found.
Where Can I Purchase Tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in the Commons on Saturday from 3:30pm until 5:30pm and on Sundays from 8:00am until 2:00pm. They can also be purchased any time at Backroads Pub and Grill. Finally, they are also now available for sale at the Parish Office during normal business hours, which are Monday through Thursday, 8:15am until 4:15pm and on Fridays from 8:15am until 1:00pm. No ticket sales will be made at the School Offices. Tickets will be $2 per ticket, with no limit on the number of tickets one can purchase.
