LGBTQ Allies

LGBTQ persons are brothers and sisters, fellow beloved children of God, and they deserve and need to know that they are loved by God and that Jesus calls them, like he calls each of us, into deep relationship with Him within the life of the Church.  This ministry provides support to LGBTQ persons and their families.

Peace and Justice Allies

The Peace and Justice Allies ministry began forming in 2020 as a way for parishioners to bring the social teachings of the Catholic Church to the community and world around us.  Chances are people already know what it means to be an ally for someone, standing with another who may not be able to stand by themselves.  Our allies ministry provides ways for us to stand with people in our community who need our support and friendship.

There are currently working groups focused on three areas of justice ministry:

1. Respect for all life from conception to natural death, especially life in a mother’s womb

2. Racial and Ethnic Inclusion, with a special focus on anti-racism

3. Outreach and support to LGBTQ persons and their families.

More working groups will form as people join and express interests in other areas (such as the environment, immigration issues, refugees, and criminal justice issues).  There is also an Allies Core Team that provides coordination and leadership for the larger group of allies.  The large group of allies meets quarterly.  The working groups meet more frequently to discuss issues and plan activities.

Reverence for Life

The mission of the Reverence for Life Ministry is to pray, fast, and be a peaceful witness for the protection of all life from the moment of conception to that of natural death.  All life is sacred and designed by God with a mission and purpose in his or her life.  We pray that the hearts and minds of our nation can be softened and changed: to protect the baby in the womb, mothers and fathers facing an unexpected pregnancy, and to protect the elderly.  Our goal is to educate the members of our parish on God’s “Gospel of Life”.

We pray the “Rosary for Life” on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the parish.

On the 2nd Saturday of each month, our singular purpose is to peacefully pray at Waterleaf Women’s Center for any amount of time that we can between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. across from the Abortion facility.  We pray that our presence will give hope to those mothers contemplating abortion and will soften their hearts to say “yes” to life.  Our Parish Rosary is at 10:00 a.m.
