WHAT IS EUCHARISTIC ADORATION?

As Catholics, we know that the consecrated host becomes the body, blood, soul & divinity of Christ, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. This is the heart of adoration—spending time worshipping our Eucharistic Lord, exposed in a beautiful sacred vessel called a monstrance. St. Teresa of Calcutta often said that adoration gave her the strength to minister to all the sick and needy each day and claimed, “The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will be the best time you will spend on earth. Each moment will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious in Heaven, and will help bring about peace on earth.”

By saying “yes” to the Lord’s call to adore His Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist, we respond to His desire for personal relationship with us and to His request made centuries ago: “Could you not watch one hour with me?” (Mt. 26:40). In return, He offers stillness and peace in a world filled with noise and distractions and renewal of your soul. Burdens are lifted and His love and graces are poured out on you. To quote Fr. Mike Schmitz, “In confession, Jesus heals you. In adoration, Jesus holds you.”
